Commuters troubled as HRTC staff goes on two-day strike

hrtc strike 2On Tuesday, commuters in Himachal faced huge inconvenience as about 8,000 employees of the Himachal Road and Transport Corporation (HRTC) went ahead with scheduled two-day strike over various issues and demands. About 25, 00 buses were brought to halt, which badly hit the transportation system in the entire state. Yesterday, the High Court of Himachal Pradesh had termed the workers’ strike illegal and had directed the union to call of the strike. However, as many as 11 HRTC unions, which joined hands to form a joint action committee, decided to go ahead with the planned strike.
