Governor Acharya Devvrat today inaugurated the T-20 cricket match played between Chief Minister-XI and Board Chairmen-XI at Pinegrove School, Dharampur in Solan district. The match was organized by the Himachal Pradesh Sports, Culture and Environment Association aimed at promoting peace and unity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor appreciated the efforts of the Association for organizing such events which not only help in maintaining physical fitness but also go a long way in promoting the sports and building the bonds of brotherhood.
Acharya Devvrat said good routine, healthy diet and physical exercise not only help in living a healthy life but also play an important role in bringing positive attitudes in ones personality. He added that positivity dwells in healthy mind whereas negativity invites various diseases.
He appreciated the efforts of the association for organizing sports events to the persons sitting on a responsible position which would help in releasing the stress they were facing in their day to-day life.
He hoped that the association would also organize such events throughout the state which would go a long way in promoting sports activities in the Pradesh.
He also advised to change the life style and should follow high tradition of life as mentioned in the Indian culture. He also urged to participate in social awareness programmes like ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’, equality, cleanliness etc. for the betterment of the society.
President, Himachal Pradesh Sports, Cultural and Environment Association Shri Vikarmaditya Singh said the Association had been organizing sports events for the last few years with a view to create mutual understanding and harmony. He said Himachal had been blessed with immense beauty and peaceful atmosphere and the Association had been endeavoring to preserve and protect the rich culture and environment of the state besides inculcating the spirit of sport among the youth. He also thanked Pinegrove school administration for providing stadium for cricket matches.
Shri Vikarmaditya Singh welcomed the initiatives of the Governor for eradication of drug abuse in youth, cleanliness drive and protection of cow. He said the Association would also come forward to contribute to this noble cause.
He also introduced the players of both the teams to the Governor. The Governor also tossed the coin.
Industries Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri captained the Chief Minister-XI team while Chairman Agriculture Marketing Board Shri Subhash Manglet led the Board of Chairman-XI.
Urban Development Minister Shri Sudhir Sharma, Principal, Pinegrove school Capt. A.J. Singh and other senior officers of the State government were also present on the occasion.
